Folksy Friday - Spooky Stuff

Recently Little L had a day off school due to illness. I wasn't too keen on a full day of the Goosebumps series even though I think some of them are quite good so I decided to introduce her to the film, Lost Boys.
I've watched it countless times but not for a long while. I'd forgotten how nice looking I thought Corey Haim and Keifer Sutherland were at the time and how good the soundtrack was. Little L loved it but I don't think she quite as taken with vampires as she is with werewolves.

So for this weeks Folksy Friday I've been looking at items that are often associated with horror films.

Folksy Friday - I Can See A Rainbow

This week I was going to choose a colour as a Folksy Friday theme but as I couldn't decide which one I went with a rainbow theme instead.
Here are just a few rainbow inspired pieces that are available on Folksy.

Rainbow brooch

Fused glass rainbow

Happy rainbow cloud print

Colourful crocheted baby blanket

Folksy Friday - Pretty Patchwork

I've been thinking of making something to use up some of my fabric stash and patchwork would be the ideal way to use up some of the smaller pieces of fabric. Also because Little L likes to have a go on the sewing machine she could help out with this. I don't think that I have enough fabric to make a large quilt so I'll have to have a think on what we can make.
For this weeks Folksy Friday I have picked some of the lovely patchwork items available on Folksy.

I love that vintage linen have been reused to make this bag

Patchwork pillowcases

Bright patchwork book cover

The fabrics used on this cot quilt are so pretty

Folksy Friday - Let It Snow

Well even though there was plenty of weather warnings I was still a bit surprised when I woke to see that we had snow during the night. If we get any it is usually not enough to stick to the ground so I was just expecting the icy part of the weather.

Opie loves snow but needs to wrap up warm so I crocheted him this neck warmer to keep him snuggly in the snow.
This week's Folksy Friday theme is snow.

Ceramic candle holder

Silver snowflake necklace

Glass snowflake ornament

Miniature snowy cottage

Snowflake hoop earrings

Thank you for looking at this weeks selection

Folksy Friday - Storage Solutions

Little L has been on school holiday this week and she spent most of the days de-cluttering her bedroom. This was her own idea as she feels that she has outgrown a lot of her toys. She has done a good job too and manage to clear out 7 bags and one large tub of toys.  The stuff she no longer wants then gets passed on to our relations for their children and a children's hospice.
The Folksy Friday theme this week is storage.

Shelves are an invaluable means of storage in our house. These cloud shelves would look lovely in a nursery.

The Icon Workshop
I love this display shelf to store cars. Little L keeps her cars in a big bucket that used to store icing (my Mum used to work in a bakery)

This is a great way to display to display Lego figures

Tatts Treasures
Drawstring bags come in useful for storing bits and bobs. Little L still uses one that I made for my oldest boy almost 20 years ago. I love the applique work on this one.

Pallet Earth
This wooden chest would be an ideal toy box or handy place to keep bedding.

Ruby Gingham
I like lovely nautical print on this fabric basket

I hope you liked this weeks selection.

Folksy Friday - All Heart

Carrying on with last weeks Valentine's day theme, this week I've been looking at heart shaped items on Folksy.

Porcelain heart decoration

Copper heart earrings

Moonlight fox silhouette decoration.
A blog post showing how these were made can be found here. Thank you for sharing Jan.

Folksy Friday - Valentine's Day Cards

Valentine's Day is almost here so I have chosen a selection of Valentine's cards for this week's Folksy Friday. There are so many different styles available it is difficult to pick just a few for a blog post.
These are some of my favourites.

This card would be suitable for other celebrations such as a wedding or anniversary. I think it would also look lovely in a frame.

This one is my favourite. I know it's not for everyone but I love it

I like that the type on this card has been done using a vintage typewriter

A pop up card

Hand stitched fabric card

I hope you liked this weeks Folksy Friday selection

Folksy Friday - Bright Ideas

Since the middle of last year I have been looking for some battery operated led lights to put inside empty bottles. I never did manage to find any in a shop so I purchased some from Ebay last week for £2 each. They throw out quite a bit of light though one is needing a battery change already.

The theme for this weeks Folksy Friday is lighting.

Spring flowers block printed lantern

Beautiful barn owl bell jar light

Porcelain ivy leaf tea light holder

Light pull made from driftwood

I love the fabric used on the lampshade.

Folksy Friday - Childhood Memories

With the popularity of the Netflix series Stranger Things and the film Ready Player One due to be released this year, the 1980's resurgence doesn't show any signs of waning just yet. I quite enjoy all the 80's references when I sit and revisit my teenage years. I'm glad I grew up in a time where it was the 'in thing' to wear electric blue mascara with purple eyeliner, something I'm certain I'll never do again.
My childhood during the 1970's was a great time too. I do wish that I had kept more of my old toys although I do still have my beloved Sindy dolls in the loft.
Now that I've made myself feel old, my Folksy Friday theme this week is childhood memories.

Jessie Growden Design This Spirograph inspired necklace. Spirograph was one of my favourite toys when I was young. We bought one for Little L a few years ago but the new version is pretty rubbish in comparison.

Daisylions I love this Space Hopper decoration. Little L still bounces about on a Space Hopper here that belonged to Caleb when he was young.

Also made by Daisylions is this fun Dib Dab decoration. Sherbert was my sisters favourite sweet. She was forever getting shouted at by my Mum for getting it on the carpet and making it sticky.

Simon Lewis IllustrationI'm not much of a sweet lover now but I was as a child. We seemed to get loads of sweets in a 10p mix but then again half pence were still in currency. There was an art to eating those sweet necklaces without getting a sticky neck or twanging yourself with the elastic.

Nicely Made by Natalie This paper bunting is made using a complete vintage Mr Men book so that it can still be read.
