WIP's

Just a quick post to show some things which I have been working on lately.

Fingerless mitts,

some felt animal brooches,

some embroidery

and the start of a rather plump crocheted gingerbread man.

WIP's

My morning has been spent crawling around the floor attaching a binding to this quilt then pinning the batting and backing on. I'm finding this kind of thing far more easier now that Little L is in school as if she sees anything blankety or cover like spread on the floor, she seems to have an uncontrollable urge to crawl underneath it or roll herself up in it. Not ideal especially when I need to work with pins. All that needs doing now is to hand quilt it then sew the binding on to the back. Having never hand quilted before though, I don't know how long it will take me.

Another thing I'm working on is a knitted golly wog from the above pattern. This is for my Mum who loves golly wogs but has never had one. At the moment the pieces I have knit are looking out of proportion, the head looks too small compared to the body and the feet are tiny. Having never made a golly wog before I don't know if this is how they are meant to be or if it is because I am using an old pattern. I'll just have to see how it turns out.

These are two projects which have been hanging around for months and I have not got round to finishing yet. I'm finding the transfer on the embroidery too faint for me to see at night with our appalling lights and I can't seem to get the legs right on the creature.

I am also waiting for a delivery of some wool to start on making some Christmas presents

WIP's

Just some wip's that I'm working on at the moment.

A knitted teacosy using a pattern which I found on Ravelry,

a multi coloured crochet blanket using oddments of wool

and an embroidery using a pattern found on the feeling stitchy site.

Another wip is my hair. I began the week with long curly hair and booked an appointment for a quick trim. I always stress to hairdressers not too go berserk with the scissors as even with a small amount cut off, my hair tends to bounce up alot. Well my hair was absolutely butchered. Its not just the amount that the hairdresser cut off, I seem to have chunks missing here and there. My hair is parted in the middle and one side is about 3ins longer than the other. Theres no way I can disguise this hideous hair so I have made an appointment at a different hairdressers for next week. I think that the only way I will be able to sort the mess out though is to have a short hairstyle which I'm not too happy about at the moment but at least it won't have random chunks missing.

WIP's

Last week I made a start on a pattern from The Hoopla book.

The mutant girl pattern designed by Cate Anevski. When I showed my mum this week what I was doing she said, 'Oh, that's nice'. I don't think she noticed that the girl has tentacles instead of arms and legs.
Another thing I have started is knitting a baby cardigan from this pattern.

I have used this self patterning wool before on cardigans for Little L and always love the way they turn out. The cardigan is for my eldest cousin's daugther, Amy who is expecting her first baby and as this will be the first baby of this generation in the family my knitting needles were out straight away. I only knit using white but Amy has just found out that she is expecting a girl so I can use more colours now.

WIP's

After re-starting my youngest boys hexagon blanket (this time making hexagons and not pentagons), the end is almost in sight. I started to sew them together this weekend and only have 20 something more to make until I can start on the edge.

Also this weekend I tried out this diagonal crochet pattern which will eventually be made into a pillow for Little L's bed.

The tutorial for this pattern can be found here.

Some WIPS

Yesterday the sewing machine made another rare outing and I made some quick drawstring bags but what I am working on mainly at the moment is this blanket which I started back in March.

At the snails pace I'm working at it seems to be never ending.

Also I started the feeling stitchy August stitchalong but I'm not doing too well with it. I think I've made the mistake of using threads which match the colour of the fabric and trying to fill every part of the print. I just keep getting it out of its bag and looking at it. One day I like it and the next I don't so I don't know if I should just persevere with it and see how it turns out or just start again.

WIP

I decided to post this wip as I don't know how long it will actually take me to finish this blanket. It will be made up from different patterned squares in shades of brown and cream. The patterns I am using for the squares are from this book which I received as a Christmas present. Over Christmas I did make a few squares but the colours I chose were really dull ( I think they were boring me to be honest ) so I just left them in a bag.

I recently came across my dull boring squares and still hated them and while I am trying to dwindle down my wool stash at the moment, I had to buy some to try to cheer up these squares. I went for some reddish - brown shades and a kind of gold colour and I think its made the world of difference. So far I've made 27 squares so to make a good size blanket may take me a while.
