The Big Knit

I heard of this campaign last night, The Big Knit 2011 and thought I'd post it for all knitters.
Age UK and innocent have teamed together and are asking knitters to come up with little woolly hats which then are put on innocent smoothie bottles and are sold across UK stores. For each hat, innocent then donates money to Age UK.
I have seen these little hats on innocent bottles when I've been doing my food shop but never knew they were made for charity. I think its a great way to use up small amounts of wool and will be making some to send off.

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting! Well done for knitting 40 hats! Yes, I get aching hands sometimes from all the knitting too. I always use circular needles, which are usually lighter, and this may help. I've also seen suggestions to use bamboo needles but have not tried them. I wonder what people do with the little hats when they've used the smoothie - I'd hate to think they just end up in the bin!

I'd never thought of using circular needles. I'll have to give them a try. It would be a shame if the hats just ended up in the bin. One of my boys went out with one on his mobile phone. Maybe it will catch on and more smoothies will be sold :)

Thanks so much for your sweet comments on my blog! Love these wee little hats. Cannot knit a stitch, but learned crochet almost two years ago and have not put the hook down. I'm off to check out your crochet pillowcase edge now! :)
